On March 4, 2024, the President, Dr. Nadhim S. Jacksi, participated in the Association of Arab Universities’ General Conference held at the University of Baghdad, which assumed the headship of the current session of the union in its fifty-sixth edition.

The conference was launched under the supervision of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Iraq and attended by ambassadors from Arab countries, representatives of Arab ministers of higher education, several university presidents, and a number of academic elites, both Arab and international.

The manner in which the Arab Universities Conference was organized reflected Baghdad’s historical and cultural value. Moreover, a series of joint projects between Iraq and Arab universities will be launched during the conference. These projects aim at developing the educational infrastructure and fostering collaborative efforts to overcome future challenges in education.

It is worth mentioning that the University of Zakho is an official member of the Arab Universities Union, and the president participated in the fifty-fifth edition of the conference in Tunisia on March 18–19, 2023.
